Star Health Insurance Takes Action Following Data Breach, Strengthens Security Measures

Standalone health insurer Star Health Insurance Ltd has implemented multiple security measures following a recent data breach, which compromised the personal information of around 3.1 crore customers. The company’s Managing Director and CEO, Anand Roy, assured that robust steps have been taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
In October, a hacker identified as xenZen reportedly made sensitive customer data, including mobile phone numbers, PAN details, addresses, and pre-existing medical conditions, available on a website. Roy emphasized the company’s commitment to fortifying its security infrastructure in response to the breach.
“In today’s interconnected world, with numerous touchpoints involving agents, hospitals, and insurance companies, we must stay vigilant,” Roy explained. “We discovered that vulnerabilities, such as weak passwords, were being exploited by hackers. We’ve taken significant steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
The company has expressed its dedication to maintaining customer trust and securing sensitive data through enhanced security protocols.
